BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Hab. Mariusz Cycoń is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Virology affiliated to School of Pharmacy with the Division of Laboratory Medicine at the Medical University of Silesia, Poland. He acquired his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences - Environmental Microbiology at the University of Silesia, Poland in February 2014, Ph.D. in Medical Sciences - Medical Biology at the Medical University of Silesia, Poland in December 2006 and MSc in Biology - Biotechnology of Plants and Microorganisms at the University of Silesia, Poland in July 2006. Dr. Hab. Cycoń has experience in different areas of modern environmental microbiology and biotechnology, to name a few: degradation of the organic compounds, bioremediation processes, microbial community structure of contaminated soils, optimization of degradation processes of chemicals, etc. He has so far published more than 30 research articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Hab. Cycoń is a member of the editorial board of 22 journals. He has reviewed more than 400 articles for 82 high-rated journals.
Dr. Hab. Mariusz Cycoń research Interests are Environmental microbiology; environmental biotechnology; microbial activity, diversity and community structure of soils contaminated with organic pollutants (pesticides, antibiotics, NSAIDs); microbial degradation of organic pollutants; bioremediation of contaminated soils; antibiotic-resistant microorganisms.
